Behaviour At Our School
At Moulton we firmly believe that learning and good behaviour go hand in hand. We therefore expect the highest standards of behaviour from our pupils and work very hard to ensure an orderly and well-behaved atmosphere permeates everything we do. Positive reinforcement is far better than negative response and so we work really hard to ensure that our pupils are reminded how well they are doing at every opportunity.
Our House system does much to reinforce this with House Points given out for good work or behaviour. So too do our Achievement Assemblies where children share their work with the rest of the school. Children are also encouraged to take their work to the Headteacher so that they can be presented with a special sticker and entered into the School Achievement Folder. Any child who achieves five entries in this folder during an academic year receives a special Certificate of Achievement. The parent of the child concerned receives a letter from the Headteacher explaining how well the child has done and inviting them to attend the special assembly when the certificate will be awarded.
Sadly things do not always work out as we would like them to. Should any child misbehave they are likely to
- Be sent to another class for a short length of time
- Deprived of a play time or lunch time
- Barred from participating in a certain activity
- Asked to write a letter of apology
- Be sent to the Assistant Headteacher, Deputy Headteacher or Headteacher.
In very exceptional circumstances, pupils will be dealt with by after school detention or exclusion from school either for a fixed term or permanently.
Any form of bullying in our school completely goes against our values and ethos. We therefore do our utmost to make sure that when it does rear its ugly head we take positive action to eradicate it as quickly as possible.
When a child is bullied, we in school are often the last to know. The child who is being bullied often blames themselves and therefore does not tell anyone. As a result, should you notice any changes in your child’s behaviour and feel that bullying is the cause, please do not hesitate to get in touch with us straight away. We always adopt a sympathetic approach and do our best to reassure and “protect” the child concerned.
