Special Educational Needs
Our adopted style of teaching at our school ensures a totally open access to all areas of the curriculum to all children. However, being mindful of the fact that some children will experience Special Needs at one time or another during their career with us, we are able to offer a specialist teacher and numerous support staff who deal with exactly this.
Our policy for Special Needs supports those children who are experiencing a particular difficulty. Members of staff work closely with our Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator as well as all or any appropriate outside agencies that we feel can be brought in to benefit the individual child.
In keeping with the national Code of Practice for children with S.E.N., we keep parents fully informed at every stage.
In operating a fully differentiated curriculum, we also ensure that those children who are more able or particularly gifted in any area will also receive the encouragement that they deserve. This is especially the case when we set the children according to ability in Years 5 and 6 for Numeracy.
